Yorkshire support for National Eczema Week

There was a considerable demand from healthcare professionals for our National Eczema Week packs this year which includes the new Itching & Scratching booklet. Up and down the country, there were displays, events and those helping to raise awareness of eczema and the Society’s work.

Pictured here is Lesley Matthews, last year’s winner of the Healthcare Professional of the Year in the Society’s annual Awards, with dermatology staff from Shipley Health Centre.

Open Charity Event, Halifax

On Saturday 20th June, there was a charity event taking place at Northowram Methodist Church near Halifax, from 10am to 2pm. Money raised from the day was divided among four charities including the National Eczema Society.

There were cake stalls, tombolas, bric-a-brac, craft stalls, information stands from all four charities, a popcorn & chocolate fountain as well as activities for the children including face painting.

To ensure no-one went hungry, a selection of hot and cold sandwiches was on offer as well as tea, coffee and juice. There was a raffle with a fantastic first prize of a week’s free accommodation in  an apartment in Los Gigantes, Tenerife!

The organiser of the event is Claire Coulton who has eczema herself so knows first-hand how difficult it can be to live with the condition.

Bradford School Non Uniform Day

Anjum and Arissa Ghani, who helped with the launch of National Eczema Week last year (Case Study) held a fundraiser at All Saints C of E Primary School in Bradford. It was centred around a non uniform Day and the event raised £205 for the National Eczema Society. Pictured here is Arissa along with her head teacher, Mrs Susan Hart.
