Dorset County Show

The Dorset County Show takes place during the weekend of September 3rd & 4th, 2011.  Attracting over 56,00 visitors it is one of the biggest Shows in the South West and a team of National Eczema Society staff and volunteers will be manning a stall and on hand to provide advice and information leaflets about the management and treatment of eczema.

Trade stand bookings are up 10% (that must be us!) and organisers are looking for another bumper turnout this year.  With over 450 stands at the event and 6,000 animals (it is a County Show after all), the objective is looking promising!  Full details of the event, including ticket prices and how to get there can be found on the website.

Please do stop by and say hello - we would love to see you there!

Congratulations and well done our walkers!!

Progress Report courtesy of The Jenkins’ family!

Well we did it, we finally, finally did it! The sight of the Sandbanks ferry was very nice, but in some ways an anticlimax, after nearly six weeks on the path.

The weather call in the end was two weeks of considerable wind, about three weeks of good sunny weather, some overcast days, but not many, one thunderstorm, overhead and very close and one day of mist and rain, not a bad tally really. The worst weather was Monday when we came through the firing ranges at Lulworth, described as a "severe" day anyway by the guide books.  We had to climb those cliffs in very poor visibility, rain and a strong wind, not fun! We finished at Kimmeridge and were happy to come home, to discover that the area is used to train the Special Boat Squadron, and we now know why!

It is amazing looking back at the extraordinary kaleidoscope of images that we have retained, a snatch of cliff here a little cove or port there and so on with overall the need to keep going and no chance to actually stop and explore anywhere.  That was really the only down to our target to get finished in six weeks by yesterday Wednesday 1st June, which we did.

So many people have helped, driven the bags about, stayed away and kept us company, walked with us, and sadly missed us on one occasion in the rain, to whom we are eternally grateful, as well as those who sent us encouraging emails.  It was great to have your support, together with your donations. We are now at just over £9,000 with gift aid, so the team are very close to target, a lot of which has come through www.justgiving.com/Roddy-Jenkins, for which many thanks.  Help them get to goal with one FINAL push, by giving a gift of any size today.  Just follow the justgiving link.

We still hope to make the target of £10,000 for which the Eczema Society would be very grateful, shown by the fact that we were met by their Chief Executive, Margaret Cox,  who came all the way from London to thank us and to drink with us some extremely inferior bubbles at the Final Way Marker!

Thanks again, and keep the money coming

Stephen and Roddy
