On a very wet and windy evening in February we had an excellent turnout to what is becoming Eczema Scotland’s annual quiz & curry night at Canmore Golf Club in Dunfermline. This year saw the finest brains being tested with our quiz – a challenge that was fit for any Mastermind!
For our grand prize draw we were kindly donated a two night stay at the Fairmont in St. Andrews, we are also grateful for all the prizes that were donated for our raffle – this ranged from bottles of wine to driving lessons!
The evening was a great success helping us raise over £400 to support our future work – thanks to all who made that possible.

Influencing health policy
Eczema Scotland recently took part in an event organised by Skin Care Campaign Scotland (SCCS) to present to MSP’s at the Scottish Parliament on the implementation of SIGN guidelines for inflammatory skin disease. We were keen to raise awareness of the forthcoming SIGN guideline for the management of atopic eczema and hope that MSP’s will support its full implementation. As well as educating MSP’s about chronic inflammatory skin disease the aim of the event was to also encourage the Scottish Parliament and the NHS to reinstate dermatology as part of the curriculum for trainee GP’s – in light of the 1 million people in Scotland who consult their GP each year about a skin disease the lack of training in dermatology for our GP’s of the future is very worrying - we hope that our influence through SCCS will encourage MSP’s and the NHS to revisit that decision very soon.
