LEO Pharma Trek Fest

LEO Pharma team take on marathon walk in aid of National Eczema Society

An intrepid team from LEO Pharma, a global leader in dermatology, is taking on the challenge of walking 26.2 miles along the Thames Path to raise funds for people living with eczema. The event is happening on Saturday 13th July.

LEO Pharma’s mission is to help people achieve healthy skin. One of the areas the company is passionate about is Right to Health, which aims to help people with skin conditions get access to health and healthcare, empower them, and train healthcare workers within dermatology, and mental well-being at work.

A recent well-being week initiative encouraged Leo Pharma staff to take on personal challenges to do something different in order to make a real difference in patients' lives. All sorts of inspiring activities have emerged, including a quadrathlon, and one individual opting to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats! This was also how #LEOPharmaTREKFEST was born.

Starting out in Henley-Upon-Thames, near the company's UK/Ireland headquarters, the 27-strong team aims to complete the marathon walk to Windsor in a single day.

On partnering with National Eczema Society, Vice President Cluster Europe North & AU-NZ Geraldine Murphy said: “We applaud the invaluable work that patient organisations, like the National Eczema Society, undertake. In particular their dedication to improving the quality of life of people with eczema and their carers really resonates. It mirrors our own ethos, as at the heart of everything we do is the drive and passion to improve the lives and health outcomes of people living with dermatological conditions. I am delighted to confirm that LEO Pharma will match the amount of sponsorship raised with an equal donation from LEO Pharma. Good luck to all the walkers and support crew!”

Pioneering the way

“Even in the planning phase there is a real pioneering spirit emerging. We are all training hard and swapping hints and tips, from the best anti-blister socks to the most tasty protein bar”, commented Mike Hinchy, Biodermatology Director, LEO Pharma, who is sponsor of the project team. “It’s new territory for all of us and, on reflection this pioneering outlook is how we also approach challenges in the workplace. The team is committed to completing the challenge together, as one, and raising as much money as possible for the National Eczema Society to help drive positive change for people living with eczema”, he added.

National Eczema Society is excited to be working with LEO Pharma, a patient-focussed company that shares the charity’s ambitions to improve the quality of life for people with eczema. Chief Executive, Andrew Proctor, commented: "We are delighted the Leo Pharma team have taken on this marathon challenge, to walk 26 miles and raise much-needed funds for the Society. Managing eczema can be a huge challenge for many people, and the dedication of the Leo Pharma Team will help us support many more people and families who struggle every day to cope.”
