Try to use the right amount of powder or liquid. In soft water areas you will need to use less; instructions are on all products.
Make sure that you rinse clothes properly, especially when hand washing. You may need to do an extra rinse cycle to make sure all of the washing powder has gone.
Take care not to overload the machine as this will mean that clothes are not rinsed properly.
People who are particularly sensitive to washing products may react not just to powder on clothing but also to airborne powder. Take extra care to make sure boxes of powder are closed properly and, if you can, get someone else to load the washing machine!
If you decide that you want to try a different washing powder then put the washing machine through an empty hot wash cycle to get rid of all the previous powder. Wash only a few items in the new powder so that if it does not suit you, or your child, you will not have to rewash a large amount of clothing. If the powder is a problem then run another empty hot wash before going back to your old powder.
Take extra care when a product has changed to a new formula as this can sometimes cause problems.

Once a month do an empty wash at 95° using a biological washing powder and this will help to digest the grease. If you do not usually use biological powder then run another hot wash afterwards to clear the machine.
