Introducing the EmolliZoo app
EmolliZoo app encourages regular emollient use by children
The EmolliZoo app from Dermal Laboratories uses the Zookeeper as a guide to teach children all about eczema and why emollients are such an important part of the treatment process. They then get to learn the best way to apply their own emollient through a series of games where they help the Zookeeper to put emollient on her animals, all of which suffer from eczema.
Once children have completed this section and have a better understanding of the importance of a good skin care routine, they can, with the help of a parent, input their own treatment calendar which will then send a series of gentle reminders when it’s time to apply their emollient.
To encourage children to stick to their treatment regime they are rewarded with stickers and certificates for using all of their emollient treatments: leave-on creams, gels or ointments, bath oils and soap substitutes at the right time and in the right way.
Parents also benefit from useful features such as an emollient use tracker – which enables you to see at a glance if a particular time or day of the week is especially difficult in terms of emollient application – and the ability to attach photos to calendar entries so that you can show health care professionals how the eczema has changed since your last appointment with them.
