Take up the Challenge to support the National Eczema Society

Taking part in an overseas event to raise money  is an exciting and challenging way of supporting the National Eczema Society.    Challenges can include walking, running, cycling, horse (or even camel) riding in distant countries including China, Mexico, Cuba and India.

You don't have to be super fit to take part but the challenges are physically challenging. Training and fitness is a must. But, this is not a race – the aim is for you to complete the challenge at your own pace. Whilst there will be people of differing levels of fitness on the trek you will find that there is a great sense of team spirit and support for everyone to complete the challenge.

People from all walks of life and of all ages take part in challenge events. From 18 onwards, everyone is welcome as long as you are fit and healthy enough to do the challenge.

Raising money can be a daunting task but once you put your mind to it, it’s surprising what you can achieve. When you register you will be sent you a fundraising pack full of information and ideas. Here are a few ideas that past challengers have used: a dress down day at work or local school, ticketed dinner and ball with auction, bag packing at your local supermarket. The possibilities are endless and once you start you will be surprised at how generous people are.

Extreme Challenge in Bolivia (Extremely Challenging)

12th July - 3rd August 2008

Charity Climb up Bolivia summits led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame.  The Cordillera Real is close to La Paz and is home to countless alpine peaks at moderate to high altitude. It is possible to climb four major peaks in three weeks due to the ease of access and Bolivia’s stable mountain weather. This expedition culminates in the ascents of Huyana Potosi and Illimani. The first two days are spent acclimatising around La Paz, as well as sightseeing in this beautiful city we will also visit the Altiplano ancient Inca ruins and Lake Titicaca. Then we trek along the Cordillera to the Condoriri Base camp, which is surrounded by some of the most beautiful peaks in the area. From this base camp we will climb Little Illusion (5,250 m), which is a straightforward peak before attempting the more challenging Little Alpamayo (5,350 m). Once acclimatised, we turn our attention towards Huyana Potosi (6,088 m) and Illimani (6,463 m). Both of these peaks require a single high altitude camp. The summit days provide inspiring and sometimes exposed climbing with stunning views stretching from Peru across to the Amazon Basin.

And much, much more...
