Challenge Africa - To the roof of the world and back again
On 11th September, James Vincent climbed the highest free standing mountain in Africa - Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The trek involved a 25 mile walk, climbing 2 vertical miles through 4 climate zones, to finish in the snows of Kilimanjaro.
The 20,000ft challenge was deliberately timed for National Eczema Week and James chose to raise funds for the National Eczema Society. So what inspired him to take on this expedition?
His wife Ellen, a trustee of the Society, has suffered very badly from an early age with eczema and this challenge is James’ way of both fulfilling a personal ambition to climb Kilimanjaro whilst raising funds for a worthy cause. He was joined on his journey by his stepfather, Jason, who did this for Asthma UK. Lloyds TSB are matching any donation made so every pound is doubled.
