What we do
Formed in 1975, The National Eczema Society has two principal aims: first, to provide people with independent and practical advice about treating and managing eczema; secondly, to raise awareness of the needs of those with eczema with healthcare professionals, teachers and the government.

Support Groups
Learning to manage your eczema or your child’s is an important part of coping and living with the condition. It is often helpful to meet other people who are in a similar position as they can offer support though personal experience together with practical help and tips. The Society provides access to a network of local support groups across the UK. More information...
Eczema in Schools
The National Eczema Society has produced a number of information packs to help teachers promote better understanding of the condition and how it affects children with eczema. More information...
Healthcare Professionals
As well as providing information and support to patients, parents and teachers, the Society also produces help and support specifically for healthcare professionals through a dedicated telephone and email Helpline and a programme of study days. More information...
Research
Currently, there is no cure for eczema. Finding a cure would significantly transform the lives of over 5 million sufferers in the UK, of which 15-20% are school children.
The National Eczema Society supports and funds research into eczema. Because dermatology does not usually attract significant funding, contributions made by the Society create the potential to make a real difference in finding a cure.
The National Eczema Society’s research policy is to fund PhD studentships to support existing research programmes. The Society has an independent scientific committee which manages the PhD studentship selection process and ensures that proposals for research are effectively peer reviewed and monitored. The results of the PhD research projects are disseminated as widely as possible to ensure that the whole scientific community is informed of any findings.
Our Commitment
We are committed to making life easier for the 1 in 5 children and 1 in 12 adults who suffer from eczema. We rely entirely on subscriptions and donations to fund our work.
