Adult with Eczema: Erica Day

Despite having suffered with severe eczema all her life, Erica went on to fulfil her dream to be a teacher and is now an inspiration for the young people in her care who are also battling with the condition.

Regardless of how excruciatingly uncomfortable her skin is and through flare ups, infection and sheer exhaustion from lack of sleep, Erica always makes it into school with an upbeat attitude.

Over the years she has brought comfort to many of her young pupils, and their parents, encouraging them to seek treatment if they haven’t already and sharing tips and advice and we applaud her use of her own experiences to support the next generation.

Parent of the Year: Jane Owen

Mother of four, Jane, was nominated for her selfless devotion to her family, especially her eight year old daughter Skye who has suffered with eczema and asthma since birth and who requires constant care.

Despite a demanding treatment routine, Jane always finds time for her other children and their outside interests and also works daily in the family business.

Jane has also supported Skye in her quest for an ‘eczema friendly’ pet – despite a personal aversion to creepy crawlies! – which, to date, has included wood lice and stick insects.
