Virgin London Marathon 2011

Meet our runners’ for next year’s marathon, find out a little bit about them and how they’re getting on with their training preparations.  We’ve also included links to their Justgiving pages should you wish to support them.  This incredibly inspiring and motivated group of people have not just committed to the most gruelling challenge but to raising £1500 each for the National Eczema Society.  We thank you all.

Introducing Paul Budden

Hello, my name's Paul Budden and in October I received fantastic news with an acceptance for the Virgin London Marathon 2011 through a National Eczema society Gold Bond place.  I've always wanted to run in the London marathon; primarily I applied due to brotherly competition as I wanted to beat my brother's time that he set in 2007. He did get beaten by a bakewell tart in fancy dress, so I hope to smash his time and raise as much money as I can.

My fiancée Clare Badman and I have been together for 8 years, and although I don't have eczema I have seen her experience the pain and suffering that goes with the condition. She has had eczema since she was 6 weeks old and my Dad also suffers from the condition, which is the reason I wish to run and raise money for the NES.

Clare only found out about the NES a short time ago and became a member. The factsheets, newsletters and ECZtra blog provide her with so much useful information, which has given her more understanding of the condition and treatment. It has also really helped her to find that lots of others have the same experiences as her. By taking part in the marathon I aim to raise awareness of the condition and the support National Eczema Society can offer.

If you would like to help us reach our fundraising goal check back later to link to my Justgiving page.
